Moocall is easy to use

Set up in five simple steps.

  1. Register a tag

    Register a Moocall RFID ear tag in the app.

  2. Tag and power on

    Attach the RFID ear tag, then power on the HEAT collar.

  3. Fit the collar

    Loop it around the bull's neck and bring the two ends of the buckle together.

  4. Check the light

    Make sure it is blinking blue, and that the collar sits snug but not tight.

  5. Release the bull

    Let him into the herd. The collar starts monitoring for heat events.

Common questions

Use a regular universal tag pliers. Scan the tag into the app and enter the cow's ID first, then tag her, ideally outside the ordinary ear tag so the Moocall logo is not hidden behind it.

As a rule of thumb, one collar per 50 cows. A 100-cow herd running AI with replacements would typically need two collars for the main herd and one for the replacements.

It picks up the majority of heats and is as accurate as the bull wearing it. It is designed for outdoor use. Indoor pens must have a minimum of 5 m² per cow. Overstocked sheds will reduce accuracy.

Department RFID tags have a short read range. Moocall RFID tags are designed to be read at a longer range, and will not interfere with any other tag.
